Have you ever wanted to fly Air Asia?

Review_Air Asia FD255

When travelling on a different airline for the first time you are always dubious about the travel experience you are about to encounter. Sadly, the norm for expectations for an airline is very low. Everyone always has something to say and complain about every airline throughout the globe.

Air Asia however blew my mind. With all passengers having to line up and check in at the desk, I prepared myself for that long, dragging wait. The staff surprised us all and were extremely fast and efficient. Don Meung airport is a great hub for Air Asia as throughout security and immigration the airport maintained the same efficiency and service that Air Asia strives for.

Air Asia are also very lenient with many travellers able to take their backpacks on board. I had no trouble or questions about my 40L Osprey FarPoint backpack which was filled to its absolute capacity. I also was able to travel with a handbag on board. Others had larger packs than mine, which comfortably fit in the overhead compartments.

A curve ball was thrown into the works when we boarded the plane twenty minutes later than scheduled. The efficiency of Air Asia and Don Meung Airport however meant we only took off ten minutes behind schedule, and this time was made up during the flight to Yangon. The take off and landing were very rough though compared to other flights. The rougher landing into Yangon could have been due to the bad weather, but overall the remainder of the flight was smooth.

The staff at the gate and on board the aircraft were all friendly and attentive. The aircraft was spotless just like the hostesses. The seats were very upright, making them slightly uncomfortable during take off and landing. With a small recline whilst up in the air, the seats were incredibly comfortable.

Flying to Yangon from Bangkok is a more expensive option than a bus. However, those with the money and short of time, it saves you a couple of days, is comfortable and still moderately priced.

All opinions are subjective to the writers personal travel experience. The writer travelled at her own expense.
